Static caravans are exactly what you think they are. It is a caravan which is static in one place, park or site. There are only really two things to think about when buying a static caravan. The caravan itself and the park where it is to be sited. We will discuss these two areas in more detail.

The static caravan

Your choice of van will be determined by the budget you have, new static's start at around £10,000 and can go past the £50,000 mark so the choice is massive. The luxury caravans will most probably overshadow your own home in terms of fixtures and figures.

You can either buy a caravan and look for a static site, or buy your caravan from the site you want. Choosing a site can be the hardest task as this is static after all so you have to want to keep going back.

The static site

We all have our favourite places that we keep going back to, whether it is Brighton or Blackpool, Florida or St Tropez. We know we like going there and we keep going back, this has to be the main decision when choosing a place to find a site. This is the initial step before actually looking at sites, find the area that suits your needs.

Once you have your area and decided if you are going to purchase on or off site, you can then start to look at actual sites within the area. This will be governed by several factors; what is available, annual fees, proximity to local shops, what the site actually offers. Remember if you are a family you need a nice secure site where your children will be safe and happy with a lot of fun activities.

Now you have your site and your caravan some other things you should be aware of. There maybe a long wait to build and deliver a purpose built static caravan, the site may only open for certain times throughout the year, you will most probably have to pay ground rent up-front before you take delivery, finance options will be available for the van, so shop around and get the best deal.
