Caravan tracking devices

Target Tracker

Target trackers are activated when you tell the operator that your caravan has been stolen. With your authority, they can track the location of the vehicle and pass the details onto the police for recovery.

These devices usually qualify you for a discount on caravan insurance. Depending on insurer and model, this will be 5-10%.

Phantom Target

Phantom produced the first widely accredited tracker on the market and is still the most widely accepted make when it comes to getting discounts from insurers.

Satellite location of your caravan means that the average recovery time is less than 2 hours in the UK or throughout Europe.

The unit is hidden in your caravan and connected to your leisure battery. The unit has a backup battery and so will still work if the thieves cut the main battery power to the caravan.

The Phantom systems are the first in the UK to be Sold Secure 'Gold with Control Centre' approved giving your greater peace of mind.

The system is 'Q Class Listed' by Thatcham - the industry standard for vehicle security.

Pro-Active Trackers

A pro-active tracker will be triggered if your caravan is stolen. This notifies the operator of the system who can contact the owner for verification. Once verified, and with the owners authority, the system’s operator can pass the exact location of the caravan onto the police. Because of the need for contacting the owner and verifying the theft, this process takes longer than the Target Tracker. However, if the caravan is not stored in a place where you will notice an theft instantly (i.e. a storage site or if left unattended for long periods whilst on holiday) then it is a vital aid to fast warning of theft and therefore quicker recovery.

On average, you will get an extra 5-25% discount on your insurance premium.

Phantom ProActive for Caravans

The Phantom ProActive device is able to communicate directly with the call centre and report on the status of the caravan it is protecting. This device monitors the caravan's alarm system and, should the alarm trigger, sends a message to the call centre carrying the location of the caravan. The call centre are thus able to phone you and confirm whether the alarm has been triggered by thieves or yourself.

If no alarm is fitted to the caravan you can still benefit from the rapidly communicating ProActive unit by having one of their movement sensors fitted. This is hidden at the time of fitting the main unit and can be switched on and off as you please. The movement sensors' sensitivity can be adjusted to meet your own caravan's individual requirements and would normally be set to trigger on the movement of the caravan itself rather than movement within the caravan, thus avoiding false alarm calls.

The system is powered in the same way as the Target system. Cutting the power will also trigger an alert. With either model, the Phantom control centre can then contact you to work out if this is an attempted theft or if you have disconnected the system accidentally.

As above, both systems are Sold Secure 'Gold with Control Centre' approved and also 'Q Class Listed' by Thatcham.
