Caravan alarms and security

An alarm can help prevent theft, avoiding loss of your no claims discount.

Some insurers will give a small discount (2.5%) for installation of any alarm system. On some policies, this can go up to 10% for factory fitted alarms with PIR (infra red detector) tilt & move sensors.

Normally we buy a caravan and don’t get much further than if it does or doesn't have an alarm. We certainly don’t know the full specification, but the full details should be documented in the manuals that came with the caravan. It is well worth looking at these before completing the quote form to make sure you save everything you can.

Sold Secure

This is an accreditation system for all manner of security devises. These are graded by effectiveness during independent testing and offer extra assurances – and discount. A standard discount for a Sold Secure accredited system is an extra 5%, regardless of the specification.
