Vehicle fire injures driver
Posted on October 16th 2008
A fire which broke out in a mobile home has resulted in one man being sent to hospital for burns and smoke inhalation, it has been reported.
The 36ft Allegro burst into flames in California, USA, as a result of the driver adding petrol to the carburettor after he had run out of fuel.
Central Fire battalion chief, John Ritchey, spoke to the Mercury News about how the fire started: "He put gas inside the carburettor to get things going, but it backfired and caught fire. He was inside the unit to access the motor when it happened."
"The motorhome is a complete loss," Mr Ritchey added; "It was a pretty dangerous thing to do."
Caravans are typically safer than motorhomes thanks to their not having an engine but there are still many dangers present in such a vehicle.
