Vandals apprehended after causing £1,500 damage to off-season caravan park

Three youths were charged with suspected criminal damage after security cameras detected the 10, 11 and 16-year-old intruders.

The regular patrols and cameras were installed in 2006 following a spate of incidents at the Marton Mere holiday village.

Park manager, Andy Cressey, told the Blackpool Gazette: "The message is clear – if you come on here you will be caught.

"We are protecting the second homes of 700 people. They spend a lot of their hard earned cash of these caravans and deserve to have them protected.

"One guard watches the CCTV all the time. Before this incident we haven't had any problems at the park for over a year."

Decking and balcony-surrounds to a small number of vans were being damaged. Eddie Price, security operative for the park, said: "If it wasn't for our security system we couldn't have caught these lads."

The park will re-open in March.ADNFCR-1193-ID-18420537-ADNFCR
