VOSA award for MOT computerisation

The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) has beaten off six hundred rival nominations to win the British Computer Society's IT award for the MOT computerisation implementation.

MOT computerisation was also a finalist for the 'Government Computing Awards for Innovation 2007' as well as being listed in two E-Government categories – winners of which will be announced later this month.

Private vehicles director, Alex Fiddes, accepted the award saying: "I am delighted to have won this award which acknowledges the hard work and dedication put in by VOSA, our partners Siemens IT Solutions and Services and, especially, the MOT Trade who have enthusiastically embraced the MOT Computerisation system."

Caravan and Motorhome owners will recognise VOSA as the body, which conducts testing upon mini-bus and lorries as well as private motor vehicles.

The MOT computerisation has meant that motorists can now purchase their annual road fund licence online at vehiclelicence.gov.uk.
