Tragic caravan couple attacked by own son

The trial of Richard Branch, son of Fred and the late Lavinia Branch continues to be tried at Norwich Crown Court.

The court heard how the couple, both in their seventies, who lived at the Turf Fen Bridge caravan site, in Murrow, received a knock on the door from their son Richard.

They were then allegedly overpowered and bludgeoned with a hammer. During their escape, a fire started. Lavinia Branch was overcome by the fumes and died.

Giving evidence by video link, Fred Branch said that Richard often asked his mother for cash and said: "She always cooked his meals and gave him cups of tea.

"She did everything for him."

Richard Branch denies murder.ADNFCR-1193-ID-18430047-ADNFCR
