The risks of amber gambling men
'Jumping' the amber traffic light is becoming more common, and men are two and a half times more likely to be the culprits than women, a survey has found.
The moment of speeding up, rather than slowing down, results in a good many more drivers receiving fines and three penalty points on their licences, listed under code TS10.
This is having an effect upon not only a motorist's insurance premium, but also it affects their choice of provider.
Debra Williams, managing director of Confused.com, an insurance price-comparison website, notes: "Many insurers see a distinct link between drivers jumping the lights and the increased likelihood of claims and accidents.
"However, not all insurers penalise drivers in the same way."
Motorists towing caravans or trailers are well aware of the dangers that having to brake suddenly, after just starting to pull forward, can cause. The momentum and weight is likely to cause damage to their own vehicle's towing point.
