The great outdoors
Intrepid travellers may well be interested in the Ordnance Survey outdoors show.
Held at the NEC, Birmingham, between Friday March 14th and Sunday March 16th the four zones house a section for finalists to the innovation awards a competition to design gadgets useful to the outdoor life, a camping and accessories area called Basecamp, a climbing challenge for some of the UK's foremost competitors and a clothing and equipment area called Gearzone.
Caravanners, camping enthusiasts and motorhome owners can buy tickets in advance of the show, at a discounted price, but there are no dedicated facilities to stay at the NEC.
TV personalities including Simon King, Johnny Kingdom, Bear Grylls and Kate Silverton will be appearing at the show.
There is a competition to win a red-letter day adventure by recognising map symbols featured on Ordnance Survey maps. Entries can be made online at theoutdoorsshow.co.uk
