The end of an era
Residents of Kenwyn Caravan Park are having to consider moving out or moving on as the lease to their community land expires in march.
Today is the last trading day of an adjacent garage, with the loss of three mechanics' jobs - one who has worked there for 37 years.
The longest serving residents, Tony and Vera Radcliffe, have been resident at Kenwyn Hill for over 35 years, and they told their local West Briton newspaper: "It's a blow!"
Resident for over 15 years, Kingsley Ash, feels that the country air was good for his health told the reporter: "There are a lot of elderly people here, widows in their 80s."
The Carrick District council has opened its housing list and has offered to help. Housing options manager, Mark Vinson, told the newspaper: "We will help as best we can, but it all depends on individual circumstances."
A farmer, who offered to let out fields on land opposite, to help, was told that his property was not in the development area.
