Caravan Insurance News: The future of the caravan club in 2010
Posted on December 30th 2009
As we enter the New Year, there are plenty of questions waiting to be answered. For the caravanning community the stability of the tourist and caravanning industry is at the forefront of caravanning concerns. Many caravanners have doubted the popularity of the pastime in the current recession.
However the triumphant return of the popular Caravan and Boat Show at the NEC in Birmingham on 23 - 28 February 2010 provides a unique opportunity for caravanners and yachtsmen alike to have some of their burdensome questions answered. The number of attendants at last year's show set the record and in 2010 over 100,000 enthusiastic caravanners and boatmen are expected to visit the NEC over the February weekend.
Statistics released by the Caravan Club this weekend also prove the sustaining popularity of caravanning. In 2009 there were over 3,000 caravan sites across the United Kingdom providing a bolster to the UK's countryside tourist industry.
In total over £20 million was spent by members of the Caravan Club in local areas on eating out, shopping locally, buying country produce, and day trips out; all of which provided a much needed injection of cash flow for local towns and attractions
This year Caravanning moved into the limelight as the recession hit and people looked for a more economic holiday on British shores. Swapping long waiting times at airports for the comfort of a holiday caravan, many wondered how long the Caravan renaissance would last. However the popularity of the Caravan and Boat Show at NEC seems to suggest that the mobile home-from-home will still be seen in camping sites across the land for some time to come.
Insure My Caravan provides comprehensive caravan insurance for mobile homes, touring and static caravans.
