Special longevity award from David Bellamy
The David Bellamy awards are an annual recognition for holiday parks who contribute to a "green" vacation experience. A special award, however, has been given to one company for sustained performance.
South Lakeland Parks operates four sites in the Lake District countryside and has accumulated 24 years of each park holding the gold award status.
Dr Bellamy told a ceremony in London he was "absolutely amazed" when he discovered just how much was being done by the parks which provide luxury holiday homes and caravans.
He told the News and Star newspaper: "South Lakeland Parks has created an oasis of wildlife which has really got me excited. Parks like this are creating wildlife wonderlands and it's time they were given well deserved recognition for their environmental commitment."
White Cross Bay, Windermere, Limefitt in the Troutbeck Valley, Fallbarrow located in Bowness and Gatebeck near Kendal form the South Lakeland Parks group.
