Solar panels could make caravans self-sufficient

Solar panels could make caravans self-sufficient, a Scottish electronics firm has claimed.

With the government and campaign groups keen for individuals to embrace renewable energy, solar panels could soon become a more common sight.

But as well as the rooftops of trendy suburbs, they might soon be seen on caravans.

Caravans are becoming increasingly sophisticated, which is great for their owners, but also means access to power is a top consideration when looking for somewhere to pitch down.

Any caravan enthusiast worried that this could undermine the freedoms they enjoy might be among the first to go all photovoltaic.

Ray Herbert, founder of electronics firm Amperor, is hoping to cash in on this emerging market.

"We have already spoken to several of our caravan manufacturer customers and they are really excited about it," he told the Herald newspaper in a recent interview. "We are pretty sure it is going to take off."ADNFCR-1193-ID-18463445-ADNFCR
