Romany traveller that wants to put down roots
A Romany family has applied for planning permission to site six caravans on a field one mile away from the village of Somersham, Huntingdonshire.
Fred Adams wants to sell his property, saying that since he is a true Romany gypsy, it goes against his beliefs to live in a house, to move his extended family into the six vans off Charteris Road.
Previous planning applications have been refused on the grounds that access to the site from the main road would be dangerous and so the revised application includes proposals for a roadway and hardstanding, as well as the six pitches.
The Somersham Parish council will meet on February 4th to discuss the proposals.
