Protection for caravans as police and public target crime
The North Yorkshire police are urging the public to get involved in catching criminals in their latest scheme, called Operation Impact.
It hopes to get the public to report crimes that they see happening, in order to have a greater reach in the community.
One of their specific operations was an attempt to catch caravan thieves and investigate scrap dealerships.
Chief superintendent Colin Taylor said: "Operation Impact aims to leave a sustainable legacy of crime reduction.
"To ensure we achieve that, we want to catch and convict those who persist in causing crime in our communities as well as preventing and deterring young people who are at risk of becoming involved in criminality in the future."
He added: "The actions of the criminal minority affect us all, either directly through making us victims of crime, or indirectly by lowering the quality of life in our neighbourhoods. It's not right and we're urging people to help us stop it now."
