Peterborough couple lose £15,000 caravan
A Peterborough couple were devastated to find that their caravan had been stolen just hours after returning from a tour of Scotland to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary, it has been reported.
Arthur and Sheila Chapman had just returned from a tour of Scotland which had taken months of preparation, and as such the caravan was full of memories from the trip.
But in the space of just minutes, the £15,000 caravan was towed away by thieves.
To make things worse, the couple had no caravan insurance, as each spouse was of the belief that the other had purchased caravan insurance when they upgraded their vehicle a few months ago.
"We started off with a banger but enjoyed caravanning so much that three months ago we got this one which cost £15,000. Our life savings went into it," Mr Chapman told Peterborough Today.
"We arrived home in the afternoon and the next thing we knew, our neighbour told us that our caravan had just disappeared off our drive.
Caravan insurance can help provide financial assistance in the event of such tragedies, but it must remain up to date at all times if the policy is to be effective.
