Personalised caravans need insurance upgrade
The opportunity to personalise caravans with homely additions can leave caravanners under-insured, the Caravan Club has warned.
Owners should review not only the cost of replacing the van, which can depreciate over time, but also the accessories which they have added.
Graham Baynes, a spokesperson from the Caravan Club, advises "The insurer will normally ask things like the model, the year it was manufactured and the value.
"A customer may have added an expensive awning on the side.
"An awning can sometimes cost several hundred pounds, sometimes up to a thousand pounds . . . and this can affect the premium."
The Caravan Club have also reassured caravan enthusiasts that the same insurance is for both the time whilst touring, as well as whilst stationary.
