Outgrowing their own caravan site
Coachman Caravans has started work to add 9,000 square feet to its own site in Sutton Fields, near Hull.
The expansion, started in November 2004, has cost over £3.5 million to refurbish and build new offices and storage.
Jim Hibbs, managing director of Coachman, explains: "We had our most successful year to date in 2007, with sales up 11 per cent on the previous year.
"We hope 2008 will be an even better year for us, but for this to happen, we need more space. We are going to dedicate some of the space to new CAD and design offices and we plan to use the rest for storage. We introduced three brand new models and updated layouts last year, increasing our overall range to 20 different models."
Gordon Brown, the prime minister, invited Jim Hibbs to be a guest at a reception at Lancaster House to recognise the assistance which Coachman Caravans provided to victims of the summer flooding in Hull.
Despite its own flooding problems, production continued, and Coachman was able to help local people with temporary shelter.
