North of the border in 2008
Caravan and motor home owners should find that visiting Scotland is much easier due to a campaign by the National Caravan Council (NCC) and the 'Visit Scotland' campaign, who are collaborating to make 2008 the easiest year to explore the north of the UK.
One-fifth of UK holidays are taken in a caravan, and there are nearly a million caravans and motorhomes in Britain. Caravan and motor home holidays account for £1.9 billion of the tourist trade.
Chairman of the Scottish branch of the NCC, David Keys, observes: "This is the first time so many different operators have come together in a private sector driven initiative to market Scotland as a destination for caravanners.
"Currently caravan holidays have a lower share of the overall holiday market in Scotland than in England and Wales. Were seeking to do something about this by highlighting that we have a fantastic and varied product in Scotland and caravan parks second to none."
