New caravan and leisure country park area
The Groundwork Trust is conducting a study into the future of the Big Hill at Todholes Road, Cleator Moor, Whitehaven.
The former children's adventure playground has fallen into disrepair since a new area in Jacktrees Road has superseded it. Unfortunately it has become an attractive place for fly tippers.
A £700,000 sports and leisure complex at Cleator Moor will be built adjacent to the Copeland Bowling Centre this summer, with plans for up to 60 touring caravans, a golf driving range, changing rooms, a covered play area for children, and a floodlit all-weather pitch.
Once the consultation has ended, Copeland Borough Council will consider all applications referring to the Cleator Moor National park area of Kendal.
