Mobile home manages to burn thousands of acres
Posted on August 28th 2008
Talk of 'burning through a forest' and most people would likely consider a caravan being towed at great speed, but for one family in Phillips County, Canada, the meaning is quite different.
A family heading east through woodlands were the cause of three fires this week, after the engine in their mobile home caught fire without the driver or passengers noticing.
Subsequently, the vehicle caused forest fires throughout the Phillips County area, with one measuring one acre, one recorded at 30 acres and another burning down 5,000 acres of woodland.
Needless to say the family eventually cottoned on to the destruction their mobile home was causing, and stopped to escape the flames themselves.
Caravan insurance should always be purchased before buying a caravan, and reassessed before taking to the road, as it can provide financial protection against the fallout from such accidents.
The financial cost of replacing a caravan could run in to thousands of pounds, and damage to other people's properties is limitless.
