Mobile home camp celebrates success

Posted on September 28th 2008

The Auswide Motorhome Club has rounded off celebrations following its tenth annual meet-up, it has been reported.

The gathering, which by the end of the week saw a total of 140 guests grace the mobile home camp, was reportedly responsible for around £15,000 being brought to the local community of Leeton.

As well as the community as a whole, however, Leeton High School also benefited from money raised to help the school fund its students' trip to Japan.

Event organiser Doreen Watts told the Irrigator that the community had done much to impress the visitors, as many had stayed on even after the event had drawn to a close.

"Everyone really went out of their way to welcome them… [The guests] couldn't believe it, it was excellent.

"We met a lot of people and got some good feedback for the town, and people will come back… There were some first-timers that were a bit hesitant about coming, who will defiantly be back next time. They're like a big family."

Caravan owners hoping to replicate a similar local gathering in the UK should not consider hitting the road until their caravans are fully insured.
