Mobile home blaze destroys vehicle on road

Posted on September 25th 2008

A mobile home was destroyed on a Californian motorway this week after a fire engulfed it in transit.

A report in the Mt Shasta Herald explained that the mobile home was set ablaze as the driver was travelling on the motorway, although the first fire engine to arrive was able to extinguish the flames.

Such accidents are uncommon among caravans, but costly when they do occur, and so caravan insurance should be carefully assessed before any trips.

A similar fire caused by an unattended barbeque, for instance, could cost the owner thousands of pounds in repairs, or more to replace the entire vehicle.

After purchasing caravan insurance, it is important to keep it regularly updated, as a caravan's contents may not be fully covered in the event of damage if the insurer had not received full details of the possessions.
