Mobile home at centre of traffic delay
Posted on October 05th 2008
A mobile home was the cause of a propane leak which resulted in a halting of both road and rail traffic on Wednesday (October 1st), it has been reported.
The fuel leak occurred in a petrol station not far from New York City, and forced road and rail closures for a total of and hour and a half while the emergency services attempted to make the area safe.
"The leak developed as propane was being pumped into a Winnebago at the Citgo Station at 697 Branch Avenue," detective lieutenant Joseph Mazza said in the Asbury Park Press.
"Firefighters worked to cool the propane tanks as a precaution, and a hazardous materials response team from NJ Transit police also responded to the location... A service station attendant was reported to have received minor injuries from the leaking gas. He was treated at the scene."
The leak could have been far more dangerous though, and an explosion or fire caused by the propane could have easily destroyed the vehicle.
Caravan insurance, however, can offer caravan owners financial assistance in the event of a fire.
The financial assistance offered by caravan insurance can be used for repairs or even a replacement, saving owners thousands of pounds.
