Mobile Home site owners should be members of Associations

Shelter, the charity that helps homeless people, is urging mobile home owners to check that their site owners are members of the British Holiday and Home Parks Association or the National Park Homes council.

Trading standards officers have re-investigated Pratt Developments, which owns several caravan parks, following a report in the Daily Mirror newspaper of an owner whose site was taken over by Peter Pratt's company.

The owner found that the site fees increased beyond his budget, yet when Mr and Mrs Peacock asked to sell, Mr Pratt refused to purchase their home.

Brian Dawson, another casualty of Pratt Developments, told the Daily Mirror: "We bought on the understanding we could sell our caravan onsite.

"We offered it to him first but Mr Pratt completely refused."

In 2002, Pratt Developments avoided legal action by agreeing to revise its contracts and was told, by the court, that future unfair restrictions would breech the undertakings.ADNFCR-1193-ID-18386307-ADNFCR
