Milkmen become caravan cops

As the caravan season approaches, milkmen have been urged by one local police force to help protect owners from thieves.

Caravans are increasingly valuable with potentially thousands of pounds worth of accessories and gadgets inside.

This, along with their mobility, makes them particularly attractive to criminals.

Police in Lancashire want owners to be on their guard and have also called on milkmen to keep their eyes peeled.

Milkmen are early risers and many caravan thefts take place in the early hours.

"I would urge people like milkmen to report any behaviour that they regard as suspicious," a police spokesman told the Chorley Citizen.

Caravan owners can also do their bit and make sure their vehicles are properly secured.

Losing a caravan to thieves could be expensive, time-consuming and would, of course, ruin holiday plans.
