Caravan Insurance News: May in flying caravan
Posted on December 16th 2009
Last weekend residents in Norwich gazed in bemusement as James May, the Top Gear presenter glided over Norfolk in a flying caravan attached to a blimp! The flying caravan contraption would certainly need an interesting form of caravan insurance.
The BBC 2 program is famed for its 'silly adventures' and May held true to form as he sauntered through the sky in his flying caravan machine. However despite a seamless journey the 46 year old presenter ran into trouble when it came to landing and he was filmed flinging himself from the caravan shouting at the top of his voice 'mayday!, mayday!'
The program has come under criticism from experts for staging a false crash as the police helicopter used to assist May had been prearranged and filming at the Norwich airport had taken place over three days in total.
Yet the producer of the Top Gear program, Andy Wilman asserted that the crash really did take place although assistance had already been arranged and that the film had formed part of the show's 'knockabout fun' feature and he believed viewers would understand. Either way Top Gear's love-hate relationship with the caravan is still well intact!
