Man admits criminal damage after smashing caravan window
A Cobholm man who smashed his neighbour's caravan window after a day of heavy drinking has admitted charges of criminal damage and threatening behaviour in court.
Nicholas Lassman, 46, was fined £160 and ordered to pay £55 in costs at Yarmouth Magistrates Court as a result of the incident, which took place on June 23rd.
The court heard that Mr Lassman began shouting abuse outside the caravan, which housed a resident who had 12 days earlier been given a suspended prison sentence and been placed on the sex offenders' register.
The resident also had a friend in the caravan, who was being attended to by a lone female paramedic after complaining of chest pains.
She called 999 after the caravan resident went into the bathroom and Mr Lassman smashed the window with the palm of his hand.
Prosecuting, Elizabeth Houghton said: "All occupants of the caravan were frightened. Lassman continued to shout outside the caravan and the paramedic was on her own and very scared."
The damage to the caravan and the nature of the incident - although seemingly a personal attack - highlights the importance caravan owners should place on securing a comprehensive insurance policy.
