Luxury motorhome goes up in flames in caravan park
Posted on August 26th 2008
A £45,000 motorhome has been destroyed after a fire ripped through the interior as it was stationary at a Bristol caravan park, it has been reported.
Fellow caravanners at the park tackled the blaze after hearing there may have been somebody inside, and in fact managed to extinguish the flames before the emergency services arrived.
One holiday maker who helped put out the fire before the emergency services arrived, Paul Knight, said: "The inside of the van was completely alight with flames.
"It was a horrible sight and when we heard that there could be a person inside, we knew we had to put the fire out as quickly as possible We gathered several hoses, reeled them across to the van, and sprayed the water inside to put out the flames and check no one was inside."
The owners will be on the phone to their caravan insurance provider as, although there were no injuries, the caravan is completely gutted, and the family will no doubt replace the vehicle.
