Lee Valley caravan park shuts

Posted on October 02nd 2008

The Lee Valley caravan park in Hertfordshire was shut for the last time on Tuesday (September 30th), it has been reported.

Following a long and hard-fought battle to keep the park open, the owners eventually had to give way to an aggregates company which will begin mining the site for gravel.

Dobbs Weir Residents Association spokesman Mark Pyatt told the Hertfordshire Mercury: "All the plans and ideas should be thrashed out before they are closed down.

"They are the custodians over public assets and are shutting them down when they have no plan of what they are going to use the assets for. It's a complete misappropriation of public assets."

Caravanners will now be forced to travel further to enjoy short breaks in a caravan park, adding to the cost and length of a trip.
