Importance of caravan insurance as fire blocks road
A caravan fire at a house adjacent to the Combe Haven holiday park diverted rush-hour traffic away from a main road for over two hours on the evening of Wednesday July 2nd.
Harley Shute Road in St Leonards on Sea, Sussex, was blocked off by two fire engines, containing ten firefighters, to bring the blaze under control.
"Cars wouldn't get past because of the hoses and our equipment," Graham Geer, of Bohemia Road Fire Station told the Sussex Express newspaper. "The fire was contained to the caravan, which was completely destroyed.
"No one was injured. We used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a jet to extinguish the fire."
The homeowner is assisting investigations into the cause of the fire, and the news highlights the importance of securing adequate caravan insurance.
