Have you 'glamped' recently?

Caravans and motorhomes have now become so well designed and fitted, with all of the latest 'mod-cons' such as underfloor heating, that owners have coined a new description for their holidays - glamorous camping, or glamping.

The striking designs are also attracting more and more celebrities to be happy to be associated with caravanning as a travel choice.

"Caravans are developing a glamorous appeal," Ruth Walmsley, from the Camping and Caravanning Club told Reuters.

"People see celebrities in motorhomes and think if they have all that money but are staying in a caravan instead of a 5-star hotel there must be some appeal."

With Formula One drivers, and US movie stars, known for using 'trailers' at the racing circuits and film sets, the luxury cachet seems set to continue.
