Growing popularity in caravan holidays
An insurance organisation has highlighted the growing popularity of caravan holidays in the UK.
The British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) has stated that the emphasis on being environmentally-friendly has meant that the caravan market has greatly expanded, as more people are taking UK-based holidays in caravans to reduce their carbon emissions.
A spokesperson for Biba said: "More and more people are buying caravans in the UK. It used to be that you had to be over 50 before you ever thought about that sort of holiday. The market generally for caravans is a lot wider than it used to be."
He added: "If you look at issue of climate change and carbon footprints, we'd all like to think that more of us are going to start taking holidays in the UK and be looking at different means of doing that. And caravans could deliver one of the outlets."
Figures from the Caravan Club indicate that there are around 1.7 million caravan owners in the UK.
