Fuel savings for careful drivers
Caravan and mobile home owners can be assured that their driving whilst towing is maximising the fuel economy of their vehicles.
A survey has discovered that motorists could save over £300 per year by resisting harsh braking, anticipating road conditions and by maintaining the correct tyre pressures.
It is estimated that good driving practices could also reduce each car's CO2 emissions by a tonne per year.
Paul Purdy, from yesinsurance.co.uk, says "Both environmental damage and the rising cost of fuel are of concern to today's motorists and they have an even greater impact on the future we are handing over to our children's generation.
"Avoiding fast acceleration, controlling speed and completing simple maintenance tasks, such as checking tyre pressures and cleaning filters, can help to save 25 per cent on fuel."
DEFRA has estimated that 22 per cent of the UK CO2 production is due to vehicle exhaust gases.
