France for free
A campsite in France has come up with an offer of a voluntary part-time working holiday in return for free site pitches.
The Chateau La Comte site has details on its website asking caravan and mobile home owners to help with the restaurant service or general maintenance around the site, in return for at least one day off per week and free pitching.
Brits tempted by such an offer, however, should be aware of the conditions of their travel insurance policies. They will need to fully disclose the type of work that they will undertake, to ensure that they are covered by the European medical insurance card conditions for EEC residents.
James Harrison, chief executive of insurancewide.com, cautions: "Be aware that most travel policies will not cover you for pre-existing medical conditions or any claim that results from being under the influence of alcohol or drugs."
Caravan and mobile home owners tempted by the French offer can find details on campingchateaulacomte.com.
