Ford owners most loyal after an accident
Admiral Insurance has studied statistics to find that certain vehicle manufacturers, and models, are more likely to be replaced with the same after an accident write-off.
Caravan Club's Towcar of the year, Ford, tops the loyalty poll, with two of every five owners buying the same again. The Focus was the most sought after replacement.
Volkswagen and Mercedes also attract the loyalty of well over a third of their previous customers, with the Golf being another model which owners want to buy again.
Admiral managing director, Sue Longthorn, said: "These figures show that Ford and Volkswagen are making an excellent impression on their owners as they are the most loyal when it comes to replacing their cars.
"It's somewhat surprising to see Audi come so low in the list especially as Volkswagen, Mercedes and BMW are so high. You would think that Audi build quality and driving experience would entice drivers to buy another, but this certainly doesn't seem the case compared to its German counterparts. It looks like some manufacturers need to start pulling out the stops to keep their customers."
Landrover, often associated with towing, scored 17th in the list, with one in five owners wanting to replace their damaged car with a similar one again.
