Football fans fill up caravan parks
Morecambe's caravan parks are doing well on match days, as visiting football fans look to combine a seaside trip with supporting their team, reports Morecambe Today.
The success of the local football club, Morecambe FC, in their first season as a football league club, has meant increased revenues for the caravan parks.
Bigger clubs visiting has meant more away fans arriving at the seaside resort resulting in increased demand for accommodation and caravan spaces on match days.
Commenting on the boost to the local tourist economy including the hotel industry, Jim Catterall, chairman of Morecambe Hotels and Tourism Association (MHTA) told the paper: "Morecambe are new to the league so naturally away fans want to see a new ground."
He went on to say that if football fans liked what they saw in Morecambe hopefully they would return again as tourists in the future.
