Firefighters summoned to tackle caravan blaze

Firefighters were hastily called out in Feltham yesterday afternoon (July 15th) to tackle a raging caravan inferno, the Hounslow Chronicle reports.

Two engines and eight firemen were sparked into action after a resident called the emergency services at 13.00 and reported seeing the vehicle on fire on Martindale Road in Hounslow.

The crew, from Feltham fire station, arrived on the scene quickly to tackle the blaze and managed to put it out after ten minutes worth of hosing.

Despite their hasty arrival, the firefighters were unable to salvage the caravan, which was reduced to a scorched wreck before Hounslow Council stepped in to clear it from the road.

The police will now be investigating the incident, with Feltham watch manager Phil Watkins explaining that they believe the caravan was deliberately dumped and set alight.

Perhaps more worryingly for caravan owners, there is no apparent motive for the supposed torching - but such an occurrence certainly underlines the importance of possessing comprehensive caravan insurance.ADNFCR-1193-ID-18688201-ADNFCR
