Fire underlines need for caravan insurance
A couple in Northampton have lost their possessions in a devastating fire that ripped through their caravan.
The Northampton Chronicle & Echo reports that Michael and Mary Mongan returned to their caravan on the Ecton Lane caravan site in Great Billing, Northampton to find it already ablaze and with most of their belongings burned to ashes.
"We are completely devastated because we've lost everything of sentimental value," explained Mr Mongan.
"All my wife's jewellery, photographs and ornaments have gone. We've even lost our passports and identification," he added.
The cause of the fire is not yet clear but there are concerns it may have been started deliberately and fire officials are continuing their enquiries into the incident. The blaze also highlights the need for caravan owners to ensure that they have adequate insurance cover otherwise they could be unable to afford to replace both the caravan and its contents if the worst should happen.
