Fire highlights importance of caravan insurance
Residents of the Holt Heath area of Worcestershire received a stark reminder of the importance of investing in caravan insurance early Sunday morning when a caravan park was put in danger by a nearby blaze.
Fire engines from nearby Worcester and Droitwich stations were called to the incident near the Holt Fleet bridge in Holt Health at 01:30 BST after receiving a report of a significant fire.
Alec Mackie, spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, told the Worcester News: "The fire started in a building which was storing a number of water-sports equipment. Because of the mix of plastics we had to use foam and the fire took quite a while to extinguish."
Mr Mackie said the storage building had been completely destroyed and an empty caravan in a nearby park was also damaged in the blaze.
The incident highlights the need for adequate home and contents insurance for caravans, which by virtue of their portable and compacted nature can frequently fall victim to external incidents such as property fires and severe weather conditions.
