Fight the fines
The Which? Magazine, published by the Consumer Association, has found that drivers, who continue to appeal against unjust parking offence penalties, are likely to be let off when the case comes to court.
Councils have also wrongly issued demands for unpaid penalties, with threats of using bailiffs to recover them.
Neil Fowler, editor, says: "Some councils seem all too ready to give parking fines, but far more reluctant when it comes to cancelling the ones that arent justified perhaps with one eye on their income.
"Many motorists will simply give in and pay up, but if you think a parking ticket is unjustified its well worth challenging it and, if the challenge is rejected, appealing the decision."
Since caravans parked on the highway, grass verges and partially on the pavement are considered obstructions or 'untaxed vehicles', owners often have to appeal against parking tickets.
