Electronic Stability Control is 'money well spent'

The Caravan Club has commissioned investigations into the use of vehicle electronic stability control (ESC) to prevent caravans and trailers snaking.

They conclude that ESC is a feature that caravan owners should consider when replacing a towing vehicle.

Caravan Club's technical manager, Martin Spencer, comments: "Follow the Caravan Club's advice and be sensible in terms of speed, matching your outfit and how you load it.

"Get this right and the chances of a snaking problem are tiny. However, if ESC is an option then it appears to be money well spent. It won’t prevent all accidents but it could just prevent that rare snaking situation."

Research was conducted at the University of Bath using a simulator and at the Millbrook proving ground as part of the Caravan Club 'Towcar of the Year' competition.ADNFCR-1193-ID-18475430-ADNFCR
