Cotswolds couple's home stolen
Posted on August 15th 2008
A couple have had their caravan stolen in the Cotswolds, it has been reported.
An itinerant couple had been living in the £1,500 Swift Challenger until it was stolen on Saturday, police have confirmed.
There have been witness reports providing some clues to the thefts after passers-by said they saw men pull over to the lay-by where the caravan was parked, and attach it to a truck.
A spokesperson for the police has confirmed that "the caravan belonged to a male and female of no settled address [the motorhome] was their home".
Thefts such as this one - which occurred during daylight - are one of the rare but vulnerable aspects of caravanning, and serve to remind owners everywhere that their motorhome insurance must be completely up to date if they are seeking peace of mind.
As well as thefts, a caravan insurance policy can be taken out to protect the owner against fire damage, bumps and crashes as a result of other, more reckless drivers.
