Comfort required on back-to-nature holidays
Eurocamp parcs has found that campers are much more climate change aware, and choose a "greener" holiday - but they would rather use a caravan than canvas.
The luxury of a fully fitted chalet or mobile home has led to the parks having to examine what is pitched, and where.
Ruth Start, Eurocamp head of sales and marketing, said: "Our customers have suggested that they enjoy the Eurocamp experience rather than a stay in a hotel as the parks are completely dedicated to the needs and interests of families.
"There has been a shift away from canvas to the sturdier accommodation types, such as mobile homes and chalets, as families prefer home-from-home comfort."
In 2007, the AA discovered that the popularity of caravanning was influencing the car market, as more people sought towing vehicles.
