Caravans to share with boat club
Caravan owners holidaying in Shetland could find that the adjacent pitch contains a boat.
The Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) has approved a grant to Delting Boat club, Brae, to unite landlubbers and boat owners on the same site.
The caravan site will double up as an over-winter serviced storage for boats.
Joe Irvine, vice commodore of Delting boating club, said that the club had "seen how advantageous it is to have a caravan site next to boat storage sites so owners can put their boats out in the spring of the year and work on them".
Mhari Pottinger, HIE Shetland development manager, said: "Delting Boating club already has an impressive track record of managing projects that bring benefit to the community, such as the extensive works required for them to host sailing sports during the Island games.
"They now seek to capitalise on the increasing number of yacht cruising and caravanning visitors to Shetland."
The development will include ten serviced sites for caravans or boats, laundry facilities and improvements to the access, slipways and car parking.
