Caravans rising in popularity as economics strike
Posted on August 20th 2008
A so-far rainy summer may not have inspired the image of happy caravan and motorhome holidays in many minds, but there is currently a boom in mobile home sales, it has been reported.
The credit crunch and high cost of the Euro both mean that holiday makers in the UK are now looking to the world of motorhomes to get out of the cities this summer, and take advantage of the great British countryside.
One motorhome and caravan retailer in the West Midlands explained that 2008 looks set to beat many records: "After two years of record sales, I am delighted to report that the signs are pointing to an even better year for the company in 2008," said Salop Leisure chairman Tony Bywater.
"We have been amazed at the number of touring caravans and motorhomes that have been selling to first time buyers. There is strong evidence that more families are abandoning package holidays to Europe because of the rising cost of flying and the strength of the euro."
