Caravans can be an alternative to holiday homes

While the credit crunch is likely to prevent most from buying their own holiday home, a holiday caravan might be a viable alternative.

According to the National Caravan Council, there is a 20 per cent increase in the number of campsite bookings in France for July and August, Homes Worldwide reports.

Rising food prices, the cost of fuel and increasing mortgage rates are restricting the spending of many British holidaymakers and the cheap alternative of a caravan holiday may be the ideal solution.

Caravans can be taken on ferries across the Channel allowing cheap and easy travel to a French campsite.

Meanwhile, caravan owners taking a holiday to France can enjoy Jacuzzi themed fitness parks or sites with a warm swimming pool.

The country offers over 9,000 fully equipped sites as well as 2,300 farm sites giving caravan owners a wide range of choice.

Caravan owners would be well advised to ensure their holiday home is covered by caravan insurance to make sure their trip is not ruined.
