Caravan towcar of the year 2008 announced

The Caravan Club has recently awarded Ford's Mondeo car with the title of Towcar of the Year 2008.

This title is considered very prestigious, as it is the UK's longest-running towing competition. This year, the judges name the Ford Mondeo Titanium X Estate as the overall towcar of the year.

Particularly noteworthy features of the vehicle were its handling, well-weighted steering, brakes, interior comfort and spaciousness for luggage.

The Caravan Club chairman, Robert Black, said: "Mondeo has been a huge success since its launch in 1993 and the latest car's performance in this year's Caravan Club Towcar of the Year Competition shows that a good towcar has become even better.

"The Mondeo Titanium X Estate is sure to be a popular towing vehicle with our members."

Other vehicles that performed well this year for towing cars were the Skoda Roomster Scout 1.9 TDI, the Ford Mondeo Zetec and the Skoda Octavia Scout TDI, the latter winning in two categories for Best Vehicle in the £20,000 - £25,000 range, and Best All Wheel Drive Vehicles Under 1800kg.
