Caravan sceptics 'stuck in the past'
Anyone sceptical about taking a caravan holiday is stuck in the past, according to the Caravan Club.
Nikki Nichol, head of public relations at the caravanning organisation, has said many people have the wrong idea about caravans.
There have been a number of developments in caravan design, with modern offerings very different to the common perception.
"A lot of people's perceptions of caravanning are stuck in the 70s," Ms Nichol said.
"If they were to go into a modern caravan today, you have got everything from under floor heating, to power showers, fixed beds, full-sized cookers, flat screen plasma televisions there is everything you could want."
According to the National Caravan Council there were 520,000 touring caravans and 108,000 motor homes in Britain in 2000.
