Caravan sales booming
Sales of caravans are on the up as more people opt for holidays in vans, claims new industry figures.
Recent research from Barclays' showed that seven per cent of the UK enjoys caravanning and camping and Brits spend more than £1 billion a year on the sector. This now appears to be reflected by a number of businesses in the industry who are keen to expand their operations and take advantage of growing interest from overseas consumers as well.
The Lincolnshire Echo reports that a local motorhome hire businesses is seeing demand increase, especially from younger holidaymakers and that the trend is set to continue.
Stephen Holloway, owner of Lincoln Motorhome Hire, explained: "We are planning to double our business to six vehicles next year and want to promote our website abroad, by having a German version done."
Camper UK also reports an increase in the number of people wanting to buy new caravans and the company now offers customers after-service care as well as direct sales.
Director Dean Hyde added: "The way in which we have expanded to employ about 20 people reflects the popularity of caravans and motorhomes."
